Rome took control of the region in 63 BC, when Pompey brought the Decapolis cities such as Gerasa (Jerash) and Pella under its rule, and in 106 AD it annexed the Nabataean kingdom as the province of Arabia. Here you’ll find those cities, Roman Petra and the chain of forts that guarded the desert frontier, from Qasr Bshir and El-Lejjun to Qasr Azraq.
