Our tour begins at Mount Nebo, the revered biblical site where the prophet Moses is believed to have seen the Promised Land. Here, you will explore the beautifully preserved mosaics inside the Moses Memorial Church and visit the small museum that brings the site’s rich history to life. Perched high above the Jordan Valley, the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views over the Dead Sea and, on clear days, as far as Jerusalem—an unforgettable setting for photography. An optional lunch stop can be arranged at a local restaurant.

From Mount Nebo, we descend along a scenic mountain road, travelling from approximately 800 meters above sea level down to the lowest point on Earth at over 400 meters below sea level. This dramatic change in landscape offers stunning views at every turn.

Upon arrival at the Dead Sea, we visit a unique clifftop location overlooking the shimmering waters below. Relax at the edge of the escarpment with a cup of coffee or tea, take in the extraordinary views, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders.

To cap it off, we'll drive by the Dead Sea to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ for a 1.5-2-hour organised tour with a local guide.

If you wish, we can make a short stop at Starbucks so you can pick up your favourite coffee before leaving the city. Relax during the comfortable drive to Madaba (approximately 40 km / 1 hour) in a luxury vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi and phone chargers. Enjoy your coffee and selected snacks along the way, while complimentary bottled water and soft drinks are provided for your comfort.

We begin our exploration at the remarkable Church of Saints Lot and Procopius, dating back to 557 AD. The church is renowned for its extensive mosaic floors, beautifully preserved and rich in detail. The central mosaic panels depict scenes of everyday life, including farming, fishing, and winemaking, framed by intricate ornamental borders. From here, we will explore nearby ruins within walking distance, including the Church of Saints Amos and Casiseos and the Church of Saint George, offering further insight into the region’s Byzantine heritage.

Our next stop is the iconic Mount Nebo, one of the most significant biblical sites in Jordan. According to tradition, this is where Moses saw the Promised Land before his death. At the summit, you will visit the Moses Memorial Church, home to some of the finest Byzantine mosaics in the region, as well as a small museum that explains the site’s history. From here, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and, on clear days, as far as Jerusalem.

Upon arrival, you will join an organised guided tour of the site (approximately 1.5–2 hours) led by a licensed local guide. I will drop you off at the visitor centre and meet you again after the tour is completed. Please note that entrance fees are not included (currently 12 JOD per person, or 8 JOD with a valid Jordan Pass). The visit involves approximately 2 km of walking, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Set within a serene and natural landscape, the site preserves significant Roman and Byzantine remains, including churches, chapels, монаsteries, hermit caves, and ancient baptismal pools. Together, these elements reflect centuries of pilgrimage and religious devotion, making it one of the most spiritually important locations in the region.

Beautiful mosaics and stunning views

Another tour we booked with Alex was the tour to Mount Nebo to see the mosaics. It was very relaxing and at the same time an educational tour, we visited 3 museums which were very interesting. Mosaics were really impressive, something we have never seen before. Then we went on a mountain road to the Dead Sea, to the complex which seats above the sea with some really beautiful views. If you are visiting the Dead Sea you must come here to experience it from above, you won’t regret it. Alex was feeding us again all the way, and of cause, we had a ride on a Tesla, which was an amazing experience by itself. Our visit to Jordan was excellent and we are planning to come again next year.

A nice surprise

I went on this tour to see mosaics and was pleasantly surprised by how much more I got from the tour. First, we have visited several churches and one of them had fantastic mosaics on display. Then we went to the Moses spring, a hard to reach but very interesting place, a beautiful cave. The museum, the next stop, was also nice to visit and I had lunch next to it. After that, we went to see the Dead Sea from a complex with a museum and restaurant with beautiful views over the sea. I really enjoyed the tour and would recommend Alex at any time.
