Alex Standing within the Church of Bishop Genesius, the 360-degree panorama reveals a quiet, low-lying field of Byzantine ruins beneath an immense Jordanian sky. Fallen column shafts, capitals and stone blocks lie across the former basilica floor, while surviving walls rise gently around the eastern sanctuary and apse. The church’s plan is no longer immediately visible as a complete building, but its fragments give it a powerful archaeological character: every carved piece once belonged to a church completed in AD 611, the latest securely dated Christian foundation in ancient Gerasa. Turning around the view, the ruins blend into dry grass, nearby church remains and the hills of modern Jerash in the distance. It is a peaceful, almost untouched corner of the park, where the scale of the lost basilica must be reconstructed in the imagination.
