Silent Chamber: 360° Inside the Tomb of the Roman Soldier

A 360-degree view inside the Tomb of the Roman Soldier in Petra reveals a stark, expansive, and functional rock-cut chamber (approx. 13×15 meters), creating a sharp contrast to its ornate facade. The interior is austere, featuring plain, chiselled sandstone walls with several funerary niches and arcisolia (vaulted recesses) along the back and side walls, designed for multiple burials. To the left, a doorway leads to an adjacent, smaller, and equally plain antechamber, while the overall atmosphere is one of echoing, sombre emptiness, highlighting its original purpose as a tomb.
