Listeb Mosque, located near Ajloun Castle in northern Jordan, is one of the country’s oldest mosques, dating back to the Umayyad era in the 8th century AD.  Situated strategically northwest of Mount Elias, a site recognised by the Vatican as a Christian pilgrimage destination, the mosque underscores the region’s historical and religious significance.  Its architectural style reflects the simplicity and functionality characteristic of early Islamic religious structures, featuring a modest prayer hall oriented towards Mecca.

Over the centuries, Listeb Mosque has undergone various restorations to preserve its historical integrity. Notably, the Royal Committee for the Renovation of the Shrines and Graves of the Companions has undertaken efforts to maintain and restore the mosque, ensuring it remains a testament to the region’s rich history.  Today, the mosque continues to serve as a place of worship, offering visitors insight into Jordan’s early Islamic heritage and the enduring legacy of Umayyad architecture.
