On a spur above the valleys that fall to the Dead Sea, Karak Castle was begun by the Crusaders around 1142 and rebuilt by the Ayyubids and the Mamluk sultan Baybars. This album follows the visit: the walls and glacis, the vaulted halls inside, stones reused from older buildings, the views and the Karak Archaeological Museum.
