Shobak Castle: The Crusaders’ Montréal in Photos

Share

Alone on a hill above the plateau, about 30 km north of Petra, Shobak Castle was founded by King Baldwin I in 1115 and rebuilt by the Ayyubids and Mamluks. This album follows the visit: the approach, the gates and churches, the vaulted halls, and the wells and stores.
