On a rise in the village of Al-Muwaqqar east of Amman, Qasr Al-Muwaqqar was a palace of Caliph Yazid II (r. AD 720–724), with a reservoir dated by inscription to AH 104 (AD 722–723). This album shows the vaults that carried the palace, its low walls among the village houses, the carved column bases and mosaic floors, and the restored reservoir that still holds water, ending with the inscribed water-gauge capital in The Jordan Museum.
