In the Keep of Karak Castle, the interplay of light against the ancient stone wall is a mesmerising sight. As sunlight filters through a narrow arrow slit, it casts a long, angular beam that pierces the dim interior. The thick limestone walls, weathered by centuries, absorb the light unevenly, creating a soft golden glow in some areas and deep shadows in others.
At certain times of the day, the shifting sun illuminates the rough textures of the stone, revealing subtle chisel marks left by Crusader and later Mamluk builders. Dust particles dance in the light, adding a hazy, almost mystical quality to the scene. When the sun begins to set, the light turns a deep amber, accentuating the castle’s formidable structure while hinting at the passage of time within its fortified keep.
