Al-Tafilah Castle 360° Panorama: Exploring Jordan’s Hilltop Fortress

SHARE

From the centre of the viewpoint, you’d see a small rectangular stone fortress perched on a hill above the surrounding valley. Turning your view around the full 360°, you’d pick up several details: the main gate or entrance, perhaps visible as a heavier wall section or framed opening; you might note the remnants of a courtyard, low partitions, perhaps the outline of a well or cistern (historically part of its defence). The panorama conveys atmosphere and scale: you’ll likely notice how small the fortress really is in relation to the vast open space around it. It emphasises the castle as a watch-post rather than an enormous habitation. Subtle features appear: narrow arrow-slits or small windows in the walls, rough floor surfaces, patches of greenery or wild grasses in stone gaps, and the uneven terrain of the hilltop.
